Face First into the Whirlwind
By Jason L. Polson

Face first into the whirlwind,
I feel the torrents blow.
Face first into the whirlwind
Where even angels dare not go.
I know there is a devil.
I've seen him in many a place.
I know there is a devil.
I've stared him in the face.
Face first into the whirlwind,
I hear its calls again.
Face first into the whirlwind,
A handsome madman with a boyish grin.
I watch the rolling cloud seas,
I ride the deadly winds.
I have the courage if I please,
To face the fires again.
Pick up the pieces,
I carry on.
Pick up my memories,
To save when I am gone.
I hear the night call to me.
My hunger has made me thin.
Face first into the whirlwind,
It's time to leap again.
